Spectrum Internet: Complete Guide
Updated September 2026 · By the Internet Cable TV Offers team
Spectrum is one of the largest internet providers in the country, reaching homes in 45 states. Its plans are easy to understand: no data caps, no annual contracts and a year of Unlimited Mobile included. Here's everything to know before you order Spectrum Internet, TV or a bundle.
Spectrum Internet at a glance
Spectrum Internet® is powered by fiber and connected to the premises by coaxial lines. That Fiber-Powered design lets Spectrum offer fast download speeds almost everywhere it operates, from 100 Mbps up to 1 Gig, with multi-gig speeds in select markets.
Every plan includes unlimited data, a modem and no annual contract. New customers currently get Spectrum Mobile free for a year, which makes Spectrum one of the best-value choices for families that also need phone service.
Spectrum Internet plans explained
Spectrum's three core plans cover almost every household. Promotional prices apply for the first 12 months.
Spectrum Internet 100 — 100 Mbps for $30/mo
A reliable, budget-friendly plan for browsing, email, video calls and streaming on a few devices. Add Advanced WiFi for $10/mo.
Spectrum Internet 500 — 500 Mbps for $40/mo
The plan most families should start with. 500 Mbps comfortably powers work, school, 4K streaming and gaming across many devices at once. Add Advanced WiFi for $10/mo for mesh coverage.
Spectrum Internet 1 Gig — $60/mo
Spectrum's fastest widely available plan, built for serious gaming, large households and working from home. Advanced WiFi is included at no extra charge.
Spectrum Mobile: save on your phone bill
Spectrum Mobile runs on a nationwide 5G network and is only available to Spectrum Internet customers. Unlimited lines start at $30/mo per line, with Unlimited Plus and Unlimited Plus Premium tiers adding more hotspot data and phone credits. Spectrum may even pay off your remaining phone balance when you switch, up to $2,500 per account.
Spectrum Stream TV® and internet bundles
Spectrum Stream TV® VIP, Spectrum Stream TV® PRO and Spectrum Stream TV® Signature bring local channels, live sports, news and entertainment together, and qualifying plans include popular streaming apps. Channel availability varies by package and location.
Bundling internet, TV and mobile on one bill is the easiest way to lower your total cost. Our team can price a double-play or triple-play bundle for your address in minutes.
Is Spectrum Fiber-Powered internet as good as fiber?
For downloads, Spectrum matches fiber on most everyday tasks: streaming, browsing and gaming all run smoothly on 500 Mbps or 1 Gig. The main trade-off is upload speed, which is lower. If you regularly upload large videos or run a home business, compare Spectrum's upload speeds with fiber options at your address.
- No data caps on any plan
- No annual contract
- Free modem, WiFi router available
- Available in 45 states
Switching to Spectrum
Spectrum offers a contract buyout that can help cover early termination fees when you leave another provider. Installation can be professional or self-install, and most self-install kits get you online the same day.

Spectrum and Cox are now one company
Charter Communications, the company behind Spectrum, completed its roughly $34.5 billion combination with Cox Communications on August 20, 2026. Spectrum is now the brand for home and business customers across the combined footprint, reaching more than 70 million homes and businesses in 45 states and serving about 37 million customers.
For former Cox customers, service keeps working as before while Spectrum pricing and packages roll out across Cox markets starting in mid-September 2026. Cox internet customers who don't already have Cox Mobile can get one free Spectrum mobile line for a year, and the combined company has committed to 24/7 U.S.-based customer service and same-day technician visits when requested.

- Spectrum now available in 45 states
- About 70 million homes and businesses in the combined network
- Free mobile line for a year for eligible former Cox internet customers
What the merger means for you
If you live in a former Cox area, you'll gradually see Spectrum's simple lineup of Spectrum Internet 100, Spectrum Internet 500 and Spectrum Internet 1 Gig, with no data caps and no contracts. If you're already a Spectrum customer, the larger network gives Spectrum more scale to keep upgrading speeds and expanding its Fiber-Powered network. Either way, call us to confirm which Spectrum plans and promotions are available at your address today.
Is Spectrum good for streaming and gaming?
Spectrum is a strong choice for streaming. With no data caps, you can watch as much 4K content as you like without worrying about overage fees. Spectrum Internet 500 comfortably supports several simultaneous 4K streams, and Spectrum Internet 1 Gig handles even the busiest households.
For gaming, Spectrum's download speeds are more than enough, and latency is generally good on its Fiber-Powered network. Competitive gamers and streamers who upload a lot of video may prefer Spectrum Internet 1 Gig for its higher upload speed.
